The FIP cooperation program
The Fraunhofer Innovation Platform for Hydrogen Energy at the Korea Institute of Energy Technology (FIP-H2ENERGY@KENTECH) is a research unit established in 2022 by the Fraunhofer Institutes ICT, IFAM, IGB, IMWS, IWES, and UMSICHT, in collaboration with the Korea Institute of Energy Technology (KENTECH) in Naju, South Korea.
The central focus of the cooperation partners is the development of technologies across the entire hydrogen value chain in joint laboratories.
The areas of work include research and development of hydrogen production from renewable energies, materials research, technologies for hydrogen storage and transport, as well as safety and logistics issues related to hydrogen.
Research topics include hydrogen production from renewable energy sources—specifically the generation of electrical energy from photovoltaic and wind power plants, with a focus on offshore installations—technologies for the conversion, storage, and transport of hydrogen, as well as safety issues in production, logistics, and application.
